The Short Version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and book, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links never decide which parks, towns or routes we recommend.

Affiliate Links

The lodging links on the site (such as "Search Hotels" and "Plan My Stay" on the park pages and "Search stays" on the Gateway Towns page) open a Booking.com search for that town. A script from our affiliate partner, Stay22, turns these outbound lodging links into affiliate links when you click them. If you then book, Stay22 and the booking site credit us with a commission.

We may add affiliate links for gear or other travel services later. Every affiliate link on the site is marked rel="sponsored" in the page code, which tells search engines it is a paid link.

As an affiliate, we may earn from qualifying purchases. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the site directly.

The Planning Kit

We plan to sell a Road Trip Planning Kit for $29. It is not on sale yet. Everything on the website stays free whether or not you buy it.

Sponsorships

We may accept sponsorships from travel brands. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as sponsored where it appears. If we ever receive a free or discounted stay, product or service, we'll say so on the page that mentions it.

What Money Doesn't Change

  • The route, the park order and the drive times come from routed road data and our master roadbook, not from partners.
  • Gateway towns come from our master roadbook, chosen for access to each park, not for commissions.
  • Costs in the budget calculator are our own estimates, and you can set every number yourself.
