On This Route
Grand Teton comes in July, the short hop south from Yellowstone (about 2 to 3 hours). It’s a separate park with a separate entrance fee. The Tetons rise straight out of the valley with no foothills, and the best light is at sunrise.
Plan the Day
- Sunrise: Schwabacher Landing or Oxbow Bend. Mountain reflections on still water, plus moose and beaver at Schwabacher. Mormon Row’s barns are the other classic.
- Morning: Jenny Lake. Take the boat shuttle across, then hike up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point (about 2 miles round trip from the dock). Go early. The lot fills by 9 a.m. in July.
- Afternoon: Teton Park Road north to Signal Mountain Summit Road for the view over Jackson Lake, then back down the outer highway.
Rules for 2026
No timed entry. Road work moves every year, so check the construction page. Grand Teton is one of 11 parks with a $100 per-person surcharge for visitors who aren’t U.S. residents in 2026.
Where to Stay
Jackson is about 12 miles south of the park at Moose. It has the most rooms but also the highest prices of the trip in July. Book early, or look at in-park lodges such as Jackson Lake Lodge and Signal Mountain to cut the drive.
Entrance Fees
- $35 Private Vehicle
- $30 Motorcycle
- $20 Per person (walk or bike in)
Visitors who aren't U.S. residents pay an extra $100 per person here in 2026.
An $80 America the Beautiful annual pass covers entry at every national park; on a trip like this it pays for itself after three parks. Fees from the NPS, checked 2026-10-18.
Nearby Parks
- Yellowstone about 88 mi as the crow flies
- Rocky Mountain about 344 mi as the crow flies
- Arches about 345 mi as the crow flies
